It's time for the fantastic Inkspirations Challenges to kick off for this year - and Keesh has a wonderful Colour Challenge for us this week. Here are the colours:
I decided to make my first ever easel card - they're everywhere in blogland at the moment! I saw Beate's tutorial on Splitcoaststampers and wanted to have a go. Here's my creation (modified to a standard A6 card):
And a view of the card closed:
I adapted this one from Beate Johns, here. I love making little boxes, and once you've found a great template, it's just a matter of altering the measurements to suit your contents. Mine has 4 little Lindt squares inside it.
It's much busier than my usual cards, but it just seemed to take off on its own ;)
I have paper pieced the cupcake (from Crazy for Cupcakes) and used Crystal Effects on the sprinkles. The So Saffron scalloped piece has been stamped with the tiny cupcake image from Short & Sweet. The sentiment is from Sweet Birthday, inked with Chocolate Chip marker and punched out with the Word Window punch. I have sponged the edges and added a row of So Saffron brads.
I have used a new Very Vanilla large grommet to tie the So Saffron ribbon through, topped off with a So Saffron button (from the Button Latte pack) which has been threaded with Choc Chip cardstock 'thread'.
The card front stands up with the help of the layer attached to the base - I have added strips of Vanilla and Cameo Coral DSP and some paper piercing, as well as a greeting popped up on dimensionals.
I also made this cute little treat box to go along with the card - this one contains small Lindt chocolate squares, but you could adapt the size for any small gift:

Hi Genelle, This is lovely, you have balanced the colours beautifully. Love how you made the easel card an A5. Your little box is so cute.
ReplyDeleteHi Genelle, cute card... the colours for this challenge lend themselves well to 'girly' birthday. I thought of doing an easle card too aren't they fun! Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Genelle, Oh your card is just magnificent, you have done a fabulous job for your first easel card(noone would know looking at it)and your little choccie box is terrific too well done!
ReplyDeleteLove your easel card too
ReplyDeleteFabulous card and box, Genelle! Love the card a lot. Great job!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Genelle, just love the easel card & the matching box is so cute. The button over the grommet looks fab. I didn't realise that you'd used a grommet, I did too. Hope you had an easier time getting it through the CS than I did :-(
ReplyDeleteCheers, Fi xox
Thanks Genelle. I've gone back & changed the card a bit, I had to give in and add Choc Chip CS to the main panel, it was bugging me LOL.
ReplyDeleteTa for the grommet hint, will try that next time.
I hope life is treating you well,
Love Fi xox
Your creations are simply GORGEOUS. Looks like you had fun with these colours. Well done.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, such a nice set! Love how you've added the three brads, with the middle one holding the sentiment tag in place, and the button in the middle of the grommet :) Nice details!
